It's so good to see the Baptist Muse back in operation! I'm looking forward to getting to know as many brothers and sisters here as possible.
I'm an Independent Baptist from Stephenville, TX, and I have a wife and 4 kids. We attend
Washington Street Baptist Church where I serve as the web designer and audio/video tech. We are blessed to have a pastor and associate pastor who are committed to preaching the truth without worrying about who might be offended. It was because of the tireless dedication to the gospel these two men, plus a couple of the deacons, had that I finally saw that I was lost after 31 years of thinking I was saved. As a child I was led through the "sinner's prayer" and was given the standard talk about how if I "really really meant it with all of my heart" that I was saved. It wasn't until I was nearly 40 that I realized that nowhere in the Bible does it say to pray for salvation. Jesus said in John 3:16 (which I could quote by the time I was "saved" as a child) that we are to believe in Him and we'll be saved. I didn't question saying that prayer because the pastor (not at Washington Street) told me that was how it was done. I'm so glad that God was patient with me and protected me through several times when I probably should have died so that I could live long enough to learn the truth.
